LOCATION: Toronto, ON Canada
Position Purpose:
Work with the lead software engineer to document the requirements, design and development of Java based HL7 and DICOM interface products. Working with the engineering team members, the software engineer will participate in all phases of the product development life-cycle including business cases, product scoping, requirements definition, detailed use case descriptions, system specifications, verification plans, clinical trial plans and outcome reports.
Reporting To: Chief Technical Officer
Responsibilities/Tasks:
· Work with team to design and develop software applications for use in the medical imaging and information market.
· Produce documentation for the design/development/testing/support of the applications in accordance with Merge eFilm's quality standards.
· Code and test to assure proper compliance with system/module requirements.
· Interface with end-user customers and manufacturers to support test and validation of HL7 and DICOM interfaces for field deployments.
Required Skills & Experience:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of: Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
· 2-3 years application development experience with Java. Sun Java Certification an asset.
· Clear written and verbal communications skills.
· Experience with medical systems and the HL7 and/or DICOM standards is a definite plus.
· Exposure to the full product development life cycle from inception through release and support.
· Results oriented.
· Additional desired skills:
- Knowledge of HTML and HTTP, Java Servlet experience
- Experience with relational database management systems
