The University Systems Department requires an intermediate-level Systems Analyst to participate in technical support and administration of the major administrative and academic support information systems on campus.
Working within a dynamic team structure, primary responsibilities include technical support, systems administration and vendor liaison related to our HP-Unix server infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include collaboration within the technical support team and with application team analysts, configuration planning and change/release management, as well as ongoing security administration, capacity and performance monitoring.
Specific accountabilities of this position include developing and maintaining expertise with our primary operating system (HP-UX), database (Oracle) environment, various software utilities, as well as the Microsoft Windows Server platform. The ideal candidate will have significant familiarity with large-scale systems infrastructure, experience as a Unix system administrator, patching procedures and Unix shell scripting, and awareness of third-party backup software (eg. Veritas), and storage-area networks.
Current development projects involving the technical support group include several server migrations, database and operating system release conversions, improving backup procedures and system availability, integration with HP's OpenView products, and evaluation of administration/monitoring/tuning software products.
The incumbent will be expected to develop technical documentation, communicate and consult extensively within the department and directorate, and become familiar with the University's enterprise application systems (including Oracle 11i e-business suite, Cyborg HR, and Datatel's Colleague).
Requirements of the position include: a University degree in a related area and relevant experience (two years minimum) with HP environments; demonstrable success supporting complex business applications within a team environment; articulate interpersonal skills, and a basic understanding of the campus information technology environment.
