Job description: The Research Computer Hardware and Software Assistant will maintain, administer and oversee the day-to-day operation of a large number of computers servicing researchers and research students. Thus, good interpersonal skills and knowledge of several operating systems (XP, Linux, Windows 2000, etc) and networking issues are essential. The successful candidate will also work with faculty to increase efficiency of various research projects by developing a variety of new macros or programs for data processing. Thus, competence in programming (Access, VB, SQL etc) management will be necessary skills. Other work will include web-information acquisition and management, as well as issues around data back-up and security.
