Bookkeeper

Canadian Crossroads International (CCI) is a fully bilingual, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to building a constituency of global citizens committed to voluntarism and sustainable development. We do this by developing partnerships between organizations in Canada and the South, organizing two-way volunteer work placements and internships, and by educating the public on development issues. We have a strong and dedicated community of Crossroads volunteers, supporters and alumni across the country and around the world.
CCI currently has an opening for a Bookkeeper to be based in the National Office in Toronto. Reporting to the National Director of Finance and Administration, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the entire Accounts Payable cycle from receipt of supplier invoices to payment of cheques. He/she is also responsible for general accounting and for communicating with our suppliers and staff. The person in this position may also be responsible for reconciling and reporting on accounts in all of our 5 regional/national offices.
Responsibilities:
Preparation of cheque requisitions and printing of cheques in Accpac
Preparation of journal entries
Entering data into accounting system
Bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations
Correspondence with suppliers and Canadian Crossroads regional staff
Compilation of financial information
Other administrative and accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years ACCPAC experience with processing daily transactions in A/P, G/L, Bank Service modules
Experience in performing monthly bank reconciliations in ACCPAC is an asset
Some post secondary accounting courses
Proficient in MS Excel
Fast and accurate data entry skills
Good oral communications skills in English, basic understanding of French is an asset
Discretion and confidentiality
Interest in or familiarity with International Development and/or voluntary organizations is an asset
Previous experience within a not for profit environment is an asset
Results oriented, attention to detail, tenacity, able to work quickly, efficiently and independently and as part of a teamThis is a full-time permanent position. The salary range for this position is $31,478 to $36,200
