We are seeking a full-time Database Programmer for a 12-month contract position. Responsibilities include design and maintenance of databases for several trials; data validation procedures; data forms design in MS Access and TeleForm software; and further development of the unit’s website. In addition, the post involves providing technical support (hardware and software) to MIRU staff.
The applicant should have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 1 to 3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience with database design and programming for MS Access, maintaining and enhancing applications, and website development are essential. Must be proficient in Visual Basic, VBA and Structured Query Language (SQL). Expertise with TeleForm software, Oracle, and database conversions from MS Access 97 to 2000/XP would all be considered assets.
The successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills; be able to communicate easily and successfully, in English, both verbally and in writing; be well organised and pay strong attention to detail; be able to function effectively independently and as a member of a team; be able to work well under pressure, and in multiple task situations.
