Inspection & Maintenance Services (IMS), a profit-centred business unit within OPG, has built a reputation within the nuclear industry as a trusted and effective provider of specialized inspection and reactor maintenance services. We are currently recruiting for an engineering position in our Non Destructive Examination (NDE) Systems Department; this role will provide specialized Inspection and Maintenance services to customers in nuclear generation facilities and related support functions. This requires performance as a technical expert in the provision of technical advice, guidance and consultation, and services to a designated segment of the work.
Specifically the incumbent will be responsible for custom software applications for remote inspection and maintenance of CANDU (nuclear generating facility) plant components, as well as new tooling software code development and maintenance, and writing and validating code enhancements.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have a degree in any of electrical or mechanical engineering or computer science complemented by familiarity with CANDU nuclear plant design and operation; and knowledge of the theory, principles and practices associated with Robotic or remote tool application and with Non-Destructive Testing (e.g. Ultrasonics , Eddy Current testing). The successful applicant will also be proficient in the English language in order to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations both for oral and written presentation and strong decision-making and interpersonal skills.
In addition, the following skill sets are essential:
Experience developing, documenting and maintaining applications using Visual Studio IDE, Visual C++, Visual Basic, MFC, STL, DCOM and preferably Python (or other scripting languages);
Experience in the qualification of pre-developed real-time software applications;
Experience in the preparation of system test strategies, plans and procedures and testing and implementation for data acquisition computer systems; and
Familiarity with national and international standards for real-time computer systems and software engineering as well as quality assurance for computer hardware, software and systems.
