TORONTO — U.S. software firm NetSuite Inc. said yesterday it is expanding in Canada by hiring 162 new employees and leasing a 40,000-square-foot work space in 2005.
The San Mateo, Calif., company, which provides business application software for small and midsize businesses, currently employs 38 people at its operation in Mississauga, where the expansion will occur.
''Our Canadian presence is a strategic investment that we think could accelerate our torrid growth rate,'' said Zach Nelson, chief executive officer of NetSuite.
Steve Frappier, formerly of Oracle Corp., has been appointed director of sales for Canadian operations.
