PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for providing and
maintaining technology services to corporate business
units, regional branch offices and clients.
Responsibilities include network architecure, security,
installation, maintenance and support. The individual
achieves strategic departmental goals and client
service expectations for all corporate information
systems, connectivity to clients and the Internet, and
provides escalation support for other IT personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· College diploma in Information Technology with
minimum seven years of IT network experience.
· Advanced working knowledge of various Cisco hardware,
software and IOS products, Microsoft Windows server
products (2003, 2000, .NET, IIS) and workstations (XP,
2000). Experience with Novell NetWare 6.0 and/or Linux
technologies would be an asset.
· Advanced network administrative and troubleshooting
support on Ethernet LAN's, and Frame Relay, T1 and xDSL
WAN technologies.
· In-depth knowledge/experience supporting, monitoring
and troubleshooting all TCP/IP protocols and
applications, routing protocols and legacy protocols,
including but not limited to TCP, UDP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP,
RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IPX/SPX, NetBIOS, SNMP, and
syslog.
· Experience implementing and leveraging tools such as
SNMPc, EtherPeek, Winsyslog, Sniffer, etc.
· In-depth knowledge and experience with Notes/Domino
5.0 e-mail/database, MS Exchange 2003/2000, Active
Directory, NT Domains, eDirectory, LDAP,
Windows/NetWare administration, Citrix MetaFrame
Enterprise Suite, Oracle and MS SQL.
· Experience with Khameleon, Pivotal or SAP products
would be an asset.
· Previous project management and leadership experience
is required.
· Second-level support for office computer hardware and
software issues, including Ghost images, software
integration testing and troubleshooting, MS Office and
corporate software.
· Experience with BrightStor ARCserve backup and tape
libraries.
· Must be a self-starter, demonstrating enthusiasm,
initiative, and a proactive outlook. Must be a team
player.
· Must have good problem-solving skills and intuitive
technical ability.
· Strong written and oral communications skills are
required.
FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR DUTIES:
· Architecture, security and traffic monitoring and
maintenance of the corporate network.
· Ongoing installation, maintenance and monitoring of
corporate servers.
· Establishing and documenting standards and
implementations for all infrastructure architecture and
devices.
· Consults with other technical and non-technical
staff, business units and clients on projects and
issues related to new and existing business.
· Provides second-level support for server, network,
workstation, application, and administrative functions,
including local and remote users.
· Leads the development of configurations and
implementations for all infrastructure, and documents
the same, within established parameters.
· Maintains system logs (server statistics, security
and access information, and backup/restoration) as
outlined in standard policies and procedures manuals.
· Provides prompt and courteous customer support in all
areas of corporate information facilities and services.
· After-hours support for infrastructure and escalation
issues.
ENVIRONMENT:
· Frame Relay/T1/DSL WAN across regional offices,
switched 100/1000 Ethernet LAN and centralized Internet
access.
· Cisco switches and routers in Toronto, mixed
environment in Vancouver and Calgary.
· SNMPc and Winsyslog deployment ongoing.
· Dell, HP/Compaq and IBM NetFinity servers with
RAID1/5 running on Microsoft Windows 2003/2000/NT and
Netware 6.0.
· Citrix MetaFrame Enterprise Suite for remote and
local application access via Web, WAN, VPN and Dial-up.
· Multi-vendor PCs with Windows NT/2000/XP and MS
Office Suite, Lotus Notes R5, SAP R/3, Citrix clients.
· Lotus Domino server and Notes client.
· ARCserve Backup for Windows on centralized tape
library and remote DLT's.
