Job Title: Senior Web Developer/Architect
Job Description:
The role of the Senior Web Developer/Architect is responsible for the
application architecture of all application development carried out
using Internet technologies. This includes providing input into the
selection of Web application hardware and software platforms,
developing site navigation, and designing an application framework.
The Senior Web Developer/Architect is also expected to be hands on and
contribute to the designing and building of the organization’s web
sites.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare and deliver long-term strategic plan for Web development and
presence, including standards and guidelines for technical design,
based on business goals and input from stakeholders.
· Create and maintain a consistent Web site architectural structure
across the organization’s Web applications.
· Provide input into the selection of, and implement applicable
hardware, software, platforms, publishing tools, and programming
languages for the development of Web architecture.
· Ensure a consistent look and feel across the Web sites,
applications, intranets, and extranets by developing and promoting a
uniform Web branding strategy.
· Collaborate with Web developers in the development and integration
of graphical and multimedia components into Web sites and other Web
applications.
· Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and
applications in conjunction with business leaders and department
managers.
· Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document Web applications.
· Where required, create and develop transaction-based e-commerce
solutions for business-to-business and business-to-consumer
applications.
· Establish policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and
applications in conjunction with content creators.
· Conduct research into current and emerging Web technologies and
issues in support of Web development efforts.
· Set and enforce compatibility and interoperability standards that
ensure site accessibility for all users.
· Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in Web
architecture, development, design, and delivery.
· Responsible for ascertaining system volume and analyzing traffic
patterns and performance.
Position Requirements:
· College diploma or university degree in the field of computer
science or Web design/development and/or 7 years equivalent work
experience.
· Certifications in Microsoft technologies (i.e. MCSD, MCSE, etc.)
would be an asset.
· Vast experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements in
order to meet strategic goals and development efforts.
· Excellent knowledge of Web platforms, technologies, databases,
protocols, languages and tools including Microsoft .NET
Architecture, Visual Studio .NET, ASP.NET, VB.NET, IIS, HTML, XML,
SQL Server 2000.
· Experience with e-commerce, intranet, and extranet development.
· Experience with computer graphic and multimedia design.
· Comprehensive experience with Web content management.
· Project management/project lifecycle/project methodology skills
required.
· Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
· Excellent knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
· Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to conduct research into emerging Web technologies.
· Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly
language.
· Highly self motivated and directed.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Very strong customer service orientation.
· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Work Conditions:
· On-call availability.
· Sitting for extended periods of time.
· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard,
mouse, etc.
· Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as
