Description: Join the Ministry of Transportation's planning and design section to perform duties relative to provincial highway projects in one of the following opprtunities. You will: assemble, investigate, analyse data relative to design of projects; analyse traffic data to determine intersection/interchange design requirements; prepare/oversee preparation of reports, plans, designs, drawing, estimates; provide technical, administrative support to project management staff.
Qualifications: thorough knowledge of highway design principles/engineering theory in planning, design/construction of highways; knowledge/ability to analyse/evaluate data re highway geometrics, traffic capacity, drainage design; knowledge or ability to learn ministry policies/directives/legislation re highway planning/design; knowledge of computer programs used in production of planning/preliminary/detailed design; knowledge of consultant acquisition procedures/agreements, management procedures; ability to organize work, maintain schedules; good communication skills to provide direction/technical guidance to ministry/consultant staff. Less qualified applicants may be considered on an underfill basis.
