VB6 / C# developer opportunity

The company’s primary focus is state-of-the-art software for document or data capture, processing, management and archiving used by service bureaus, law firms and other vertical markets with large volume document control needs.

Job Title: Software Developer, Software Engineering and Software Support - reports to CEO

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full time
Salary: to be negotiated
Start Date: Immediately
Location: Barrie, Ontario

Skill Requirements:
Experience: 3 to 5 years

Education: Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Management or related field. Other computer related accolades are an asset.

Programming Languages: 1 - 3 years experience in Visual Basic 6 , Visual Studio.NET, C#. Must have experience with one of the following databases: mySQL, Microsoft SQL server, and Microsoft Access and connecting to them with DAO, ADO.NET. Experience with web technologies such as: HTML, XML, ASP.NET.

Preference will be given to these applicants:
Experience with development with Automation, Web Services, Windows Forms, ActiveX, Threading, .NET Remoting, C++, COMInterop.

Other Information: We are looking for an experienced, creative VB6/C# developer who has strong project management skills. Applicant must be self-motivated, well-organized and comfortable dealing with clients. The main duties will be support and maintenance of legacy products in VB6 and to develop and maintain a web based document processing system in C#.

Candidate will be responsible for blueprinting software, developing and maintaining help data and product knowledge base, software troubleshooting, development team communication, evaluating and determining design and implementation of new features as well as creating protocols for testing of same. Applicant will also be required to habitually investigate new technologies, operating systems as well as existing products to provide ongoing advice on direction of future development and products.

Ongoing tasks will include performing complex database maintenance and manipulation incorporating in-house database software, MS Access and various other packages. The candidate may also be required to attend trade shows to provide in-depth knowledge to sales teams and prospective clients.
