Start Rate: $27.67 Maximum Rate: $32.08
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under general direction, the incumbent will be a senior resource who will ensure the reliable and scheduled availability of multiple development and production relational databases. Responsibilities will include: monitoring and tuning databases for optimum performance; working with application developers during all phases of the application development life cycle; designing and implementing physical database design; influencing all aspects of application architecture and design; ensuring data integrity through appropriate design and use of backup/restore capabilities; assisting in troubleshooting application problems; providing technical direction, guidance, and consultation concerning application development and acquisitions, database architecture, and related software; and playing a major role in the evaluation, implementation, installation, and maintenance of middleware, Web products and DBMS software.
Hours of Work: 35 per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: Skill Testing Required: Yes
The successful candidate will possess a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an Electrical Engineering Program, or will have completed the equivalent in courses from a Community College or recognized training facility. In addition, the applicant will have additional specialized DBA industry recognized skills such as DB2 Information Management Certification and/or MCDBA. Additional qualifications are: a minimum of twelve years experience in a related business environment deemed acceptable to the department; more than eight years experience working with Relational Database Management Systems in a web-based enterprise application development environment, including object oriented design most recently with DB2 on Linux and MSSQL on Windows server platforms; demonstrated commitment to ongoing skill development and upgrading through business, professional, and technical courses and/or seminars (e.g. new application development strategies, WWW); exceptional technical, research, analysis, planning, problem solving, design, and developmental aptitude; excellent leadership, teamwork, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; and a strong attention to detail with the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
