Job Title: Lead QA
Location: Mississauga, ON
Nexus is currently looking for a QA Lead to work on a project for one of its large clients located in the west end. The project is a large, time sensitive initiative that will require the consultant to quickly learn the existing business processes and contribute to the customization and development of the new application. As such, Nexus requires some a QA Lead who can handle the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the QA Manager by providing guidance to the QA members through the process of QA planning, project team work allocation, scheduling and identification of deliverables
As requested, will be required to provide support to other projects
Support includes, but is not limited to:
Test planning,
Test case review
Assist with project deliverables
Investigate, identify and facilitate issue resolution, as appropriate
Provides mentorship to less experienced team members
Provides technical leadership and guidance to the team:
To assist in understanding the solution that is to be developed as input into the QA test strategy/approach
Identifying appropriate test data strategies/approaches.
Assists with team recruitment
Contributes to the identification and implementation of QA process improvements (process standardization, methodology improvements and implementation, tool utilization) leveraging industry best practices, as appropriate
For assigned projects responsible for:
Regular communication with the QA project team members to ensure that activities are progressing as planned and that all issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner
Ensures that team deliverable, activities and plans are in alignment with project/team goals, objectives and requirements.
Ensures appropriate intra-team communication is occurring and actively facilitates issue resolution across the broader project team, when such situations arise
Hands on testing, as required.
COMPETENCIES
Expert level knowledge of the testing & deployment processes applicable to assigned products or systems
Can produce high quality test cases in a short timeframe (2 weeks per functional spec)
Minimum 8 years experience working in software Quality Assurance area
Exposure to object oriented analysis and design
Experience with execution and reporting of both manual and automated test scripts
Strong knowledge of QA and software testing methodologies
Working knowledge of SQL and ability to author SQL for testing data management tools and processes
Payroll Processes and or Functions is an asset
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Communication – ability to understand requirement documents, evaluate technical specifications, operating manuals and system documentation
Teamwork – ability to work cooperatively towards shared goals and objectives.
Planning – ability to take project deliverables and construct a test strategy or plan to address components
Problem Solving – the ability to develop, recommend and implement practical solutions
Relationship building – ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other teams in the technology organization
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Familiarity with JavaScript
Familiarity with networking concepts and experience analyzing network traffic data
Strong understanding of Internet architecture and browsers
Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL
Web development and software programming experience is an asset
