Description
This position reports to the Manager, Telecommunications.
Main challenges
Carry out complex analyses, including gap analyses, and make recommendations to optimize system efficiency and resolve important problems
Understand business issues, identify and analyze the needs of internal clients, document requests and prepare recommendations to design or adapt systems that meet requirements and facilitate decision-making
Implement complex IT systems and modify or ensure the modification of existing applications based on user needs and business imperatives
Act as a coach to the team
Supervise testing to ensure that developed or modified systems are adequate
Analyze system change requests, evaluate the impact on existing applications, and suggest and make appropriate changes
Specifically, you will:
Act as a one of the key technical interfaces for Telecom Data Team with other infrastructure groups
Ensure the smooth running, availability and reliability of Capital Markets network infrastructure at all times (Steady State)
Respond to all Incidents, MACs and provide point of contact for Telecom Data during incidents or outages, while investigating and troubleshooting, monitoring and responding to alerts from the network monitoring system
Ability to interface with 3rd party vendors / providers to address incidents to conclusion
Qualifications
Completed three-year College Diploma or academic equivalent in a related field with a minimum 10 years experience in the Telecom / Financial Markets industry displaying progressive responsibility and achievement in large-scale networking environments
Certifications: CCIE Routing and Switching / VOIP/QoS/Nexus is highly desired
Capital Markets Experience (knowledge of High Frequency/ Algorithmic Trading is an asset)
Must have strong interpersonal & communication skills for effective inter departmental interaction and collaboration and the ability to articulate issues, problems and solutions to management, technical staff, and colleagues
Strong documentation and presentation skills (Visio) and assist the team in continuously improving the existing toolset(s)
Must work well independently and in dynamic team environments
Self-starter, proactive / customer focused
Capability to sell ideas, concepts and propose solutions to peers and senior management
Bilingualism both spoken and written is an asset (English and French)
