The following career opportunity exists for a Senior LINUX System Administrator in the Technology Services team. Located primarily in the Brampton Data Centre, this individual will be responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance and support of UNIX environment. The team acts as primary interface to IT Operations and Client Services for Unix (AIX and Linux) production infrastructure third level support.
Technical Responsibilities
•Installation, configuration, and performance tuning of Unix (AIX and Linux) operating system components and system software packages.
•Development and maintenance of Unix operational documentation, installation guides, test plans and procedures
•Technical system administration resource for Technical Services initiated infrastructure projects and technical consultation for IT business projects.
•Off hour 7/24 pager support on a rotational basis.
•Provide third level support for IT Operations and Client Services.
•Unix platform recovery for Disaster Recovery test scenarios.
Qualifications
•5 years workplace experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration.
•Experience working with virtualized environments
•Experience with AIX installation, administration, capacity planning and systems management
•Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP stack and Unix network services
•Experience with SAN and NAS environments
•Experience with Shell and Perl scripting
•Team player with a professional attitude
•Good written and verbal communication skills
•Good organizational and interpersonal skills
•Strong problem determination skills
•Ability to work independently.
•Flexible with respect to work hours (ie. Maintenance during off-peak hours).
•Experience with incident, problem and change management.
Desirable
•Experience or working knowledge of following software components: ITM Monitoring, Tivoli Storage Manager, ESP scheduler, Oracle, MQ/Series, Websphere, Tuxedo.
•Experience with PCI-DSS compliance
