Position Overview Using a customer centered approach; this position is responsible for implementing network services (voice and data communications, network applications and IT technology infrastructure). In particular, this Network Analyst’s role will be the primary Exchange administrator. The Network Analyst also provides day-to-day monitoring, maintenance and help desk support for network services.
Responsibilities As the primary Exchange administrator, this Network Analyst’s responsibilities will include maintaining the security and reliability of the corporate email environment. It will encompass support, maintenance, and upgrades of Exchange and related infrastructure including Active Directory, VMWare, storage, clustered Windows servers, load balancers and spam filter.
Additionally, the Network Analyst will provide daily Tier 2 (network) help desk services, system monitoring and maintenance and will perform project work on a regular basis. The successful applicant will provide administrative support for servers, network switches, security devices (firewalls, anti-spam), storage, and assorted appliances providing a variety of network services. Key technologies include Microsoft AD, Exchange, VMWare, Cisco, Citrix, Dell and EMC Storage.
This position will report to the Manager of IT Infrastructure and Operations and will work primarily in City Hall, however the infrastructure spans 30+ facilities across Burlington and remote site work is periodically required. Operations are supported out of one main datacentre, some smaller datacentres and the City’s IT recovery site. This role may be required to be on-call periodically on a rotation basis.
Requirements We are seeking an individual with post-secondary education in information technology, networking and/or IT security. The incumbent requires experience with Exchange 2010, AD 2008, DNS, VMWare 5.x, Windows clustering and TCP/IP networking (switching, routing, firewalls). Candidates must be proficient in the use of MSOffice applications. Additionally, applicants will have good analytical and critical thinking skills and be able to work effectively under heavy workload in a highly demanding environment. Strong problem solving, communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork skills are also essential. Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) would be an asset. It would also be preferable for candidates to have experience with iSCSI SAN storage and Cisco iOS.
