Position Overview This position is the City’s primary Exchange (2010) Administrator with overall responsibility for managing the organization’s messaging and collaboration systems. In addition to Exchange, the position includes implementation, maintenance and support for network and datacentre infrastructure.
Responsibilities As the primary Exchange Administrator, this Network Analyst’s responsibilities will include maintaining the security and reliability of the corporate email environment. The Exchange Administrator will support capacity planning and long-term strategic goals for messaging and collaboration solutions. The position will be responsible for design, installation, configuration and life-cycle management (upgrades) of Exchange and all related components including Active Directory, servers, storage, load balancers and spam filters. The position will be responsible for backup/recovery and DR for Exchange. The Exchange Administrator will provide day-to-day Tier 2 support for messaging issues and proactively anticipate, identify and resolve problems affecting system performance, efficiency and availability.
This position will also provide implementation, maintenance and support services for general network and datacentre infrastructure. Key technologies deployed at the City include VMWare, Windows 2008/2012 server, Cisco, Citrix, Dell and EMC storage.
This position will report to the Manager of IT Infrastructure and Operations and will work primarily in City Hall, however the infrastructure spans 30+ facilities across Burlington and remote site work is periodically required. This role may be required to be on-call periodically on a rotation basis and may be called at any time to deal with a major problem.
Requirements Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience in managing a complex (high availability) Exchange environment. We are seeking an individual who currently has or has recently had the responsibilities of an Exchange Administrator.
We are seeking an individual with post-secondary education in information technology, networking and/or IT security. The incumbent requires experience with Exchange 2010, AD 2008, DNS, VMWare, Windows Server, Windows clustering and TCP/IP networking (switching, routing, firewalls). Candidates must be proficient in the use of MSOffice applications. Additionally, applicants will have good analytical and critical thinking skills and be able to work effectively under heavy workload in a highly demanding environment. Strong problem solving, communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork skills are also essential.
Certification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) would be an asset. It would also be preferable for candidates to have some experience with SAN storage and Cisco iOS. Experience with the Microsoft 365, hosted Exchange and Microsoft Lync would be an asset.
