The Senior Developer will work with the External Portfolio Management who’s mandate is to manage CPPIB’s hedge fund portfolio. The role involves designing, developing and supporting software to assist with investment research and risk reporting. Potential development projects include building interactive web applications, designing data models and managing data for the support of security identifier matching and to provide workflows related to research management, data monitoring and analysis. Projects are delivered according to Agile development practices.
Application Development and Support
Design, develop and support new and existing applications using a variety of technologies (Core Java and Spring, Python, AngularJS, Javascript, MSSQL, Oracle)
Collaborate with business and technology teams to ensure deliverables are clear and the right technology is being used for the right reasons
Estimate work effort, identify risks and provide feedback on the feasibility of team to deliver by target dates
Promote development tools and Agile best practices through active team participation, knowledge sharing sessions and maintenance of documentation on team wiki
Ensure sufficient test coverage to guard against breaking existing functionality
Position Requirements
An undergraduate degree – preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
Above average communication, critical thinking and relationship management skills, with an ability to naturally influence others and sell ideas effectively
5+ years of demonstrataed software development expeirnece with proficiency in at least two of Core Java and Spring, Python, AngularJS, Javascript preferred
Proficiency with Python based parallel processing and distributed computing is desirable
Experience in financial services environment and/or interest in pursuing investment education designations such as CSC, CFA are highly desirable
